Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week! I’ve had so much fun with my new site this week, and I’m excited to continue it going forward.
Organizing is one of my favorite things to do, but it can be really hard. I really thing an organized house, car, bag, etc. is a better one. Organizing can be methodical, or it can be something you hate. Either way, it’s probably a part of your life whether you like it or not. Here are some of my favorite hacks, tips, and tricks that I turn to time after time to make organizing a breeze.
Put like items together
It sounds basic, but it helps more than you’d realize. I used to just put stuff anywhere, but grouping helps you find things later when you need them. Sports equipment goes in a bin with other sports equipment, hair supplies with hair supplies, bedding with bedding.
Everything needs a place.
Don’t leave stuff floating—give it somewhere to be. For example, it really bothered me that my new suitcase was lying around my bedroom, so I found a spot for it. Stuff that floats around really isn’t helpful, and it probably will just continue to bug you.
Don’t try to organize everything at once.
Start with one drawer, one shelf, one surface, one little area. Attempting everything at once can have you feeling overwhelmed, and then you might not want to organize at all. It’s better to do something small because you still get that achievement feeling, like, yay! I did something!
Use pretty organizers.
As silly as this sounds, wicker baskets are probably more enticing to organize with than plastic Tupperware. And an organized shelf looks better than an unorganized one. If you think of it like home decor, it probably won’t be such a pain.
Don’t do it alone.
Organizing with someone else (even over FaceTime) makes it more fun and can even make it competitive: who can organize faster? You can chat as you sort those out-of-season clothes, and before you know it, you’re done!
