If you saw Saturday’s post, you know I mentioned that my school is shut down due to Coronavirus. However, as a public school we have to have 180 days of school (or “school”) so to prevent taking from our summer, we are doing our classes online for the next 2+ weeks. Today is my first day doing this, and I thought I’d share how I’m doing this, how it’s working for me, and my thoughts on all of this.
Every one of my teachers has a website, so every morning I’m supposed to check each website and see that day’s assignments. I only have ~30 minutes for each class, which is far less than I’m used to, and the teachers have mapped out exactly how much work will take 30 minutes.
Our school has long been a proud supporter of all things Google, and that’s only gotten bigger as this whole thing has expanded. Right now, we’re really utilizing Google Meet and Google Hangouts, as well as our far-more-familiar Google Docs. I love that everything Google is on the same account and that everything is accessible in drive together.
As I mentioned a little yesterday, my PE teacher assigned 30 minutes of exercise each day. We have to log how much and what we’re doing, and three days have to be “vigorous” activity. It’s going to be very different from our past PE classes, but I’m excited to see how it goes! In the background, I’m also going to be working on my workout video project (I’m hoping I can post that here with the groups permission).
Besides school, I’m also going to have a lot of free time. Here are things that I’m planning to do, and my suggestions for anyone else in a similar situation:
